"A blend of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon and 42% Merlot, the 2009 Rauzan-Segla is deep garnet-colored, with a touch of brick. It needs a lot of swirling and coaxing to bring forward its alluring perfume of kirsch, warm cassis, candied violets, and sassafras, leading to underlying hints of licorice and charcoal. The medium-bodied palate is an exercise in grace and seamlessness, with incredibly plush tannins and well-knit freshness supporting the fragrant fruit, finishing long and perfumed. This is a head-turner." - Lisa Perrotti-Brown

97 James Suckling

"Complex aromas of dried citrus fruit, with very ripe plums and currants. Full and very dense, with lots of beautiful fruit and super velvety tannins. This is really long and caressing, with intense structure. A gorgeous wine. Muscular and powerful. Made for the long term. Try in 2020."

97 Jane Anson

"Enticing brambled fruit on the nose, we are in top tier 2009 here, delicious creamy fruit, well placed and slowly uncurling, cocoa bean, cappuccino, graphite, right up there in terms of what you want from classified Margaux in these great vintages - ready to drink, John Kolasa director. 50% new oak for ageing, 41hl/h yield. This vintage had a label designed by Karl Largerfeld." tasted 9/24

"I continue to just love the 2009 Château Rauzan-Ségla. It's such a classic Margaux, remarkable for its elegance and purity yet still showing classic 2009 depth, richness, and sexiness. Giving up loads of crème de cassis, green tobacco, cedar pencil, chocolate, and hints of incense, it's flawlessly balanced and has sweet tannin, integrated acidity, and a great finish. It's drinking at point today yet has another two decades of longevity ahead of it. It's a beautiful wine."

95+ Wine Advocate

"Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2009 Chateau Rauzan-Segla has a very fruity warm blackcurrant and blackberry preserve nose over hints of lilacs, cedar, cloves and cinnamon stick. Full bodied, rich and seductively fruited in the mouth, it has a solid foundation to support with a high level of velvety tannins and refreshing acid, finishing long."  Monica Larner

95 Jeff Leve

"The truffle, cigar box, cedar, floral, citrus and dark red fruit notes are almost at their secondary stage. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, silky, fresh, rich and supple. The berries and floral character with their sweetness and lift feels as good as it tastes. With 2 hours in the decanter, this is a stunner, else wait about 5 more years and drink over the next 2 decades with ease." tasted 09/19

"A rich and opulent wine, very ripe, packed with luscious blackberry and damson fruit as well as sweet tannins. It is a fruit salad of fruit flavors given structure by a core of dryness. Already a gorgeous wine, but one that will also age." Roger Voss
