Les Baudes is one of the 24 Premier Cru vineyards of the commune of Chambolle-Musigny. The commune is unique in the Côte de Nuits for its soils: chalky over hard bedrock, which stresses the vines. This Pinot Noir wine is fermented in vats for up to 4 weeks, then aged 18 to 20 months in oak barrels before bottling.
Reviews:
91-93 Burghound
"Moderate wood sets off ripe aromas of black cherry, violet, acacia and poached plum. The rich and relatively full-bodied flavors are at once succulent yet powerful with a taut muscularity on the impressively persistent, firm and built-to-age finale where the only reproach is a subtle warmth. Patience is again advised. (Drink starting 2033)"
16.5 Julia Harding for Jancis Robinson
"Fermented in open vats and aged 18–20 months in barrel. Cask sample. Mid cherry red. Sweet aroma of dark-red fruit and with a hint of Chambolle’s floral character. Elegant, veering towards lean but just steps away from the brink. Long rather than deep. (JH) (Drink between 2028-2038)"
