A reflection of the heritage of Ribeira Sacra by Fernando Algueira

• The Algueira estate is located at the mountains of Galicia, in Ribeira Sacra, one of the most vertical vineyards of Spain (reaching 60° steepness), on the slopes of Doade.

• A unique blend of the best of indigenous varieties: Mencia from the oldest vines on the steepest slopes, with the ancient Brancellao that could express the most delicate and subtle nature of the grapes, in addition to Souson and Caino to bring up the vivacity and complexity of the Atlantic side and Garnacha Tintorera to add depth.

• Coming from oldest vines, with most extreme conditions to enhance that remarkable mineral character from the best plots.

• The Algueira family is native from Ribeira Sacra. After the Spanish Civil War, poverty and misery spreaded on the area and most of this landscape got swallowed under the forests. It is in 1979 when Fernando Gonzalez (commonly known as Fernando Algueira), introduced by his father-in-law, discovers this heritage, getting obsessed in recovering the history and legacy of his hometown until today.

• The name "Dolio" comes from a Middle-Age instrument made from an empty barrique of wine that can been seen on churches and monasteries' corbels.

" The 2019 Dolio is a cuvée of Mencía, Brancellao (quite a lot here), Sousón, Caíño and Garnacha Tintorera created as a blend with the help of Telmo Rodríguez and Pablo Eguzkiza in this first vintage, but they should go much further in future years. They selected north- and west-facing vineyards to achieve more freshness in the wine, trying to reflect the huge potential of Ribeira Sacra. The full clusters were foot trodden and fermented in a troncoconic oak vat with indigenous yeasts and matured in 225-liter barrels and 2,000-liter foudres for 24 months. But the wine has no influence from the wood and is floral and perfumed. It has good grip, fine tannins, moderate ripeness and 14% alcohol, and it's very clean and balanced, with elegance and precision. The best wine from Algueira in recent times. 6,665 bottles were filled in May 2023. - Luis Gutierrez"
