"Moving to the two flagship releases, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve (86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot, and the rest Malbec) is another inky hued release from this team and offers a thrilling nose of blueberries, black cherries, iron, cedar pencil, and bouquet garni. These carry to a full-bodied wine with beautiful mid-palate density, a soft, expansive texture, building tannins, and a gorgeous finish. Ranking with the top handful of wines in the vintage, it's going to evolve gracefully for 20-25 years or more."
"The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is laced with the essence of dark red/purplish berry fruit, blood orange, mint, spice and rose petal. Unctuous and deep, with striking balance and tons of allure, the Reserve is superb today. The CADE Estate is situated on a 54 acre property with 21 acres planted to vines. Located in the heart of Howell Mountain, our CADE Reserve vineyards sit at elevations ranging from 1,500 to 1,850 feet and is planted Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and Petit Verdot. The 2018 vintage also features fruit from our recently acquired 82 acre property on Howell Mountain, 13th Vineyard. Fruit was harvested from October 5th through November 1st and was the largest vintage on record for CADE.
The fruit was hand picked, destemmed/whole berry, hand sorted, and pumped into small stainless steel fermentation tanks. The must was kept at 50oF for a two day cold soak. Fermentation was hot and fast with temperatures reaching a maximum of 92°F and the juice macerating on the skins/seeds for 6-7 days.
The wine was aged for 20 months in 100% New French Oak barrels. Only free run wine was used in the blend, no press fractions were selected. Racking occurred immediately after the completion of malolactic fermentation, then on a quarterly basis until bottling.

"The 2018 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas of blackberry, blueberry, black cherry, dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla bean, graham cracker, and black currant. In the palate are flavors of boysenberry, raspberry coolie, chocolate covered espresso beans, brown spices, and red cherry. The tannins are structured and elegant. The density and mouthfeel of this wine really showcase the silky sumptuous full-bodied nature of this wine that is Howell Mountain. The 2018 vintage was bountiful and the resulting wine is full of great fruit, mouthwatering texture, and lots of spice."
