Appellation: Willamette Valley

Tasting Notes:  Pale ruby with red hues. This wine teems with sweet red McIntosh apples, freshly picked raspberries, and notes of pink peppercorn and dried roses. An underlying ferrous salinity on the palate contributes complexity to cranberry, Bing cherry, licorice, and clove flavors. It is sweet and succulent at its core and will continue to integrate beautifully over the years. In its youth, there is an undeniable balance between age-worthy tannins and tart acidity. The 2022 vintage brought us wines rich with structure and fruity spice, vividly displayed here. Drink 2024 - 2031+

From the Winery:  Named for the road where our family grew up in Portland, Oregon, our Cumberland Reserve represents a blend of some of the finest barrels from our five estate-farmed vineyards, all carefully combined to showcase Oregon Pinot Noir at its best. Our Cumberland Reserve is the epitome of the Bergström style-the expression of a unique vintage’s character combined with the perfect marriage of spice, mineral, and fresh fruit flavors.

Estate-sourced from Bergström, La Spirale, Silice, & Le Pré du Col Vineyards in Dundee Hills, Ribbon Ridge, and Chehalem Mountains AVAs. Pinot Noir represents about 80% of the total Bergström estate acreage.

95 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"Medium ruby-purple, the 2021 Pinot Noir Cumberland Reserve offers generous aromas of cranberry sauce, floral potpourri, blood orange and wafts of dried herbs. The medium-bodied palate is youthfully gregarious and focused on generous allspice flavors, although its chalky, tensile frame and long, latent finish."

About Bergstrom:

“1000 Days of Effort”

"The Bergström Wines’ work ethic is rooted in this family and team mantra.

It takes us three years to farm, ferment, age, and finish every single bottle before we can bring the wine to market.

Bergström Wines believes that the greatest source of new world Pinot Noir and Chardonnay is Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Our hand-crafted products do not come from large-scale industrial manufacturing, but from a natural, smaller, and simpler process, marrying artisan to agriculture. Being consumers ourselves, and aware of the importance of value and authenticity, only the finest wines, worthy of donning our family’s crest and label, are hand-bottled for your consideration.

Our dedicated farming team stewards 70 acres of ecosystem across 5 unique estate vineyard properties in the Dundee Hills, Chehalem Mountains, and Ribbon Ridge American Viticultural Areas (AVA’s) in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. From the inception of our vineyards in 1999, our estates have been farmed without the use of herbicides, pesticides, insecticides, or systemic chemicals. We also prefer composting and treating with homeopathic herbal and mineral teas, rather than using synthetic fertilizers. Each year, we build hundreds of tons of our own compost piles with local and organic cow manure, local and organic straw and grasses, all of our previous harvest’s fermented grape skins, seeds, stems and winter vine-prunings, as well as curative herbs like chamomile, yarrow, valerian, dandelion and stinging nettle.  When added back to our vineyards each spring, this compost helps build rich, fertile complex soils with better structure, water holding capacity, and vitality.

We believe in attention to detail, respect for the land, and products of purity and place. Our wines pair best with local, fresh foods, drink well in their youth, but also age and develop magnificently for years in the cellar. These wines are a vinous road map to the different marine sedimentary and volcanic hillsides where we grow Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Our wines’ regional expression has juicy, natural acidity, fresh fruit aromas and flavors, a tensile and saline mineral core, as well as rich earth and spice characters from our ancient weathered soils and bedrocks.

Being from Oregon, it is important to us that we take care of Oregon’s green landscapes. Our pastures, forests, streams, rivers, and most importantly the fields, vineyards, and orchards that give our people food and nourishment are what make this great western state so unique and worth protecting. Take comfort in knowing that when drinking and sharing Bergström Wines with your family and friends that ours is a natural practice in purity, positivity, and vitality." www.bergstromwines.com
